Former Sundog Traded for 21-Year Veteran
The NHL Trade Deadline has come and gone and not without having a touch in the CHL as former Arizona Sundogs defenseman Sean Zimmerman was part of a busy trade day for the Phoenix Coyotes.
Zimmerman was dealt, along with a conditional draft pick, to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for potential future Hall of Fame defenseman Mathieu Schneider.
The Denver native played in 20 games with the Sundogs during the 2008-09 season collecting three assists and 20 penalty minutes. This season with the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage, Zimmerman recorded seven points (2-5=7) and 75 penalty minutes in 54 games.
Schneider is a 21-year NHL veteran that has played in close to 1,300 NHL games and more than 100 Stanley Cup Playoff games collecting a ring as a member of the 2003 Montreal Canadiens.
Zimmerman is expected to be assigned to the Canucks AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose.
