Big Crowds Take in Weekend’s Games
The action on the ice has been fast and furious as the teams of the CHL make their final pushes for the post-season and the fans in all CHL venues have responded. On Friday and Saturday night, the CHL welcomed 64,647 fans to its 14 games (an average of more than 4,600 people).
The venues combined were at 70% capacity with two sellouts in Missouri, one sellout in Texas, one sellout in Rio Grande Valley, one sellout in Colorado and a sellout in Rapid City. In all, six games were played in front of sold out crowds and Saturday’s game in Odessa missed by just a few hundred.
In Sunday's action, the Colorado Eagles added to the number of sellouts for the weekend and Texas came within a hundred of another soldout crowd. In Wichita, the Thunder welcomed more than 9,000 fans in their game versus Arizona and the fourth and final Sunday game welcomed more than 5,000 fans in Tulsa.
On the ice, there are competitive races for conference crowns as well as for positioning in the post-season.
