Brahmas Send the Big Snake South the Rio Grande Valley
The Texas Brahmas (14-14-1) and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (9-16-6) made a trade today that had Robin Big Snake heading to the Bees and the rights to forward David Masse going to the Brahmas. Big Snake could be in the line-up tonight when the Bees play at home versus Arizona.
“We needed to make some tough personnel decisions to turn things around,” said Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong. “We are confident that this is in the best interest for the team in hopes of a championship and wish only the best for Robin and his family.”
The Brahmas had counted on Big Snake to provide not only a spark to the line-up but also some offense as he had in past years. Over his first two seasons as a professional, Big Snake scored 44 goals with 44 assists with the Rockford IceHogs (United Hockey League) while compiling 753 penalty minutes. In 25 games with the Brahmas, Big Snake had managed to score just one goal with seven assists and a league-leading 208 penalty minutes.
In exchange for Big Snake, the Brahmas acquire right to Masse who totaled 77 points last season seeing action with both Tulsa and Rio Grande Valley. This season, the Montreal native played in 13 games scoring five goals with seven assists. He was placed on team suspension on November 21st.
