Tulsa Wins Fifth Straight Keeping Hold of Conference Lead
Wearing specialty jerseys celebrating former U.S. President Harry Truman, the Missouri Mavericks (4-7-1) gave it their all on Friday night taking the Northern Conference leading Tulsa Oilers (9-3-0) to the final minute of regulation but a late power play goal sealed the deal for Tulsa extending their win streak to five games sending the Mavs fans home heartbroken.
The game winning goal came from the red-hot T.J. Caig who needed 59 minutes and 17 seconds of the game to extend his goal scoring streak to a CHL season high seven games. Three other Oilers finished with a goal and as assist joining Caig with those players being Michel Beausoleil, Aaron Davis and Rob Hisey.
Kevin Armstrong made 29 saves earning the win for Tulsa who maintains their grip on the lead in the North.
Jeff Christian started the scoring in the game just over a minute into the opening period and later cut the Oilers 4-2 lead to 4-3 in the third period with his second goal of the night.
The loss for Missouri snapped their modest two-game win streak.
Tulsa will look to make it six in a row on Saturday night at Wichita.
