Thunder Renew Rivalry with Plunder in 13th Annual Wheelchair Game
Wichita, KS (January 22nd) - The Wichita Thunder will ditch their skates in exchange for a wheelchair as they renew their rivalry with the Plunder in the 13th Annual Wheelchair Hockey Game. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, January 31st beginning at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Magdalen, which is located on 21st Street just east of K-96.
The Plunder are a group of wheelchair athletes from the area associated with Wheelchair Sports, Inc. Nick Taylor, who has organized the event for years, is excited once again to put on this great event for the community.
“We put the Thunder players in wheelchairs and proceed to kick the crap out of them in a game of wheelchair hockey. It’s hilarious to see these big, tough hockey players try to push wheelchairs around and play hockey and of course we have a ton of fun for a great cause.”
Tickets for the game are just $5 for adults and kids 12 and under are free. Wheelchair Sports, Inc. will be selling tickets to the event at the next three Thunder games behind section 108. The Thunder will be wearing special wheelchair jerseys on Tuesday, January 29th against the Rapid City Rush and also at the wheelchair game. After the event, there will be a live auction with all the proceeds from the game and auction benefiting Wheelchair Sports, Inc., which provides athletic opportunities to disabled individuals, both adult and youth.
