Americans Forward Suspended for Two Games; Americans Coach Fined

GLENDALE, AZ (February 17, 2014) – The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Allen Americans forward Garrett Klotz has been suspended for two (2) games and as a result will miss this afternoon’s contest in Denver and Friday’s game in Wichita.

Klotz received a game misconduct and subsequent suspension for returning to the ice after being ordered off by a linesman (rule 70.6) and he also received a misconduct for ‘continuing to fight’ (rule 46.5).  The infractions came in the final minutes of Missouri’s 5-2 win over Allen on Saturday night.

Additionally, Allen Head Coach Steve Martinson has been fined an undisclosed amount of money for ‘unprofessional and unaccepted conduct as a Coach in the CHL’.

Also, Allen goaltender Mark Guggenberger is being fined an undisclosed amount of money for making on-ice contact with the Missouri Mavericks mascot that could have caused injury.  The contact happened prior to face-off and was viewed to be careless, unnecessary and avoidable.
